Antirom
Antirom was founded in 1995 as a result of the production of their first disc, Antirom. The unanticipated success of Antirom inspired the creators to found the company and since then they have worked on many CD-ROM, web, and kiosk projects for high profile clients such as Levis, Toyota, and Guiness. Beyond the commercial spectrum, Antirom have developed works for on- and offline galleries, collaborated with Tomato and other members of the underground scene and given live multi-media performances. Day-Dream
Day-Dream is based in New York, but studied design at the Bazzarel Academy of Art & Design, Jerusalem, Israel, and later electronic sound composition at Moley College in London. He recently exhibited his work at the MacClassics Exhibition at the Post Masters Gallery, New York, and created installations for the Downtown Art Festival of Soho. Designers Republic
Designers Republic became famous in the early 1990s for the innovative design work they created for the techno scene. Today they continue to work for the top acts in the genre and Gasbook 7 features a movie that that is full of brilliant Designers Republic imagery.

Dextro
Temporarily based in Vienna, Dextro is involved in a number of contemporary design and music projects. Originally a group named POMELO, they played at parties in Austria, Germany, and Slovenia before founding a record label and becoming Dextro. Inspired by the techno movement, they compose music, organize parties, and design graphics, without giving any regard to the commercial aspects. Dextro's latest work on the web is TURUX (www.turux.org) which uses Shockwave to announce an automated design project. With random-script, viewer interaction, etc., different images can be seen on the screen each time a page is reloaded. Visit www.dextro.org

Eric Rosevear, aged 24, lives in East Village, New York. His passions are simply to skateboard with friends around New York City, and to produce 'shitty' music and 'shitty' websites.
Groovisions
Although their focus is graphic design Groovisions also produce cutting edge visual art and design websites. Since 1993, they have created live-visuals for the pop band Pizzicato Five and in 1997 they moved from Kyoto to Tokyo. Today Groovisions focuses on music, fashion, and movies, and exhibits and sells original works at ''exhibisions''.
Love Sound System
Love Sound System was founded in 1993. In the beginning they composed Acid House and Break Beats Techno, and later-inspired by the sound of 4Hero's 'Parallel Universe'-they got involved with Drum'n Bass. In 1997, they took part in the U.F.O's 'Spicy Remix' production and released a single with Roars Recording.
Shynola
Gasbook 8 – Future Vision features 'Guns Blazin' by Shynola, a promo for MOwax records featuring the character Unkle Alien. This promo was commissioned for the NME magazine awards in 1998 as a sort of alternative acceptance speech from James Lavelle, and became a way to showcase music without any focus on the vocalist. The imagery is a mix of Sci-Fi and experimental and has been strongly defined by the MOwax image, the design of Ben Drury, and the graffiti artist who created the original Unkle Alien characters, Futura 2000. The promo spot featured in Gasbook 8 is a mix of live action, hand drawn animation, and computer work. Shynola, whose members are Ricard Kenworthy, Gideon Baws, Jason Groves, and Chris Harding, is based in London.
Sluta Leta
''Life is Tango...'' Sluta Leta was founded in 1994 in Umea (a small town in northern Sweden), using the name of the scooter rental shop the owners had operated in the summer months on the Greek island of Corfu. On Corfu they met executives from the Mego label and a friendship began which resulted in their debut 12'' release of Fan Club in November 1995. This was followed by a 12'' release for Uptight entitled 'Space is the Place'. After rethinking their strategy in 1997 Sluta Lata is back-not only with an upgraded range of new scooters but also a cutting edge new studio. Their work includes 'Lisa 94' 12'' (released on cult Viennese label Cheap) and remixes for Chocolate Industries, Miami.
SKOT
Tina Frank, born in Austria in 1970, studied graphic design in Vienna. She later worked for two years at MetaDesign in Berlin, followed by a year at Nofrontiere in Vienna. In 1995 she established her own studio, Tina Frank,which later became U.R.L., an agency for information design and was also based in Vienna. In 1997, together with Mathias Gmachl and others, she founded the video band SKOT. You can see the work of SKOT in Gasbook Gasbook 4 – City of Entertainment. Tina Frank's work includes the design of MEGO's record sleeves and their website.

Stereotype Produkts
Founded in January, 1996, Stereotype Produkts kicked off their career with the apparel brand 'Asyura First'. Their work includes posters, pamphlets, CD covers, and visuals. In 1998, they mounted an exhibition titled 'Works '96-97', in both Tokyo and Osaka, and with which they won great popularity. Presently they spend their days and nights experimenting with the movie medium.
Yo-yo Suzuki
Yo-yo Suzuki was born in Yokohama in 1970. He graduated from the Tama College of Art and became a graphic designer. In 1997 he started his own company, ''yo-yo'' and worked with groups such as 'Yo-Yo Rarandays' and 'Flopro'. Today he creates his own fonts and plays Hyper yo-yo. His fonts Twinkle and Twinkle Line are featured in Gasbook 4 – City of Entertainment.
Ichiro Tanida
Ichiro Tanida was born in Tokyo in 1965. After graduating from the Tokyo Art School he joined BISE, the principal of which was Hiroki Taniguchi. During his time with BISE he won several awards including the Japanese Graphic Society's Parco Award and he organized and ran a Neo-Art-Group with Hiro Sugiyama. He separated himself from BISE in 1992, and began to focus on paintings and drawings. Tanida made a comeback in 1994 with his CG works and produced the CD-ROM Underground AtoZ So Out. In collaboration with Tycoon Graphikers he produced CD jackets for Geisha Girls and the Tei Towa 'Technova' promotional video (directed by Hiromichi Nakano).
TGB Design
TGB is a design studio made up of members Ichifuru, Ishiura, and Komiyama. Each of these very diverse personalities specializes in a different field. They started out producing club flyers then expanded into various other genres. Today TGB's work ranges from CD productions, art direction of apparel branding, 3D animation, and TV commercials to music productions. They design ''anything, which can be designed.''
Tomato
Tomato is a London based design cooperative which was founded in 1991. Their creations have touched every conceivable medium from photography, film, music, and sculpture to typography, graphic design, and modern art. Tomato is known for innovative and controversial television commercials, street installations and film work such as the famous title sequence for the movie Trainspotting. A typical element of Tomato's visual creations is a poetical combination with text which creates the effect of beautiful layers.
Tubatomic Studio
A Kansas City based design studio whose founding members are Alex Ogle and Aaron Hoffman. These guys like simple design and believe in pure function with a minimum of distraction. For Gasbook 6 they created the Jonni Nitro promotional movie which is reminiscent of a 1970s spy movie.

Totally defying the rules of what a normal book can be, Gasbook is a stunning new interactive series from Japan — a hip collection of experimental multi-media works that include animated shorts, fonts, games, and screensavers.
Contributing artists make an impressive list of dynamic creators from Japan, Europe and the USA, including Tomato, Designers Republic, Me-Company, 5 & up, Groovisions, Jimmy Chen, Buro Destruct, and many more.
The aim of the
Gasbooks is not only to present projects created by the most innovative and exciting multi-media designers in the world, but also to provide readers with digital material such as fonts and iconic art for use in their own creations. More than just a fun guide to cutting-edge multimedia design, this series is an inspirational pool of mixed media creations in which one can become submerged-submerged in the sound, touch, and visuals of unique and remarkable design. It's an experience to be explored.

Each volume includes a multi-media component such as a CD-ROM, video or DVD; a print component such as a booklet or poster; and its own unique and seductive packaging.
Many of the
